“Golfklubben Maribo” is located close to Maribo. With “Engestofte” and “Søholt” manor houses, this golfing district comprises some of the best scenery of the region. The town centre, surrounding the Cathedral, “the old town district” and the open-air museum, gives visitors the impression that time has stood still.
From Maribo, you could go aboard the “Anemonen” touring boat on the Maribo Lakes, or take a veteran train ride on the Museum Track between Maribo and Bandholm, to highlight the unique assets of the cultural landscape here.
Close to Bandholm and Blans harbours, you will also find Northern Europe’s largest safari park, Knuthenborg. West of Maribo is “Knuthenlund”, a large organic visitor centre which develops dairy produce from sheep and goats.
On the north side of Lolland is Kragenæs, which makes the perfect setting for a family holiday combined with cultural interest. From Kragenæs, you can get the ferry to the islands of Fejø and Femø. Together with Askø, these islands have a reputation for quality fruit, wine and cider production. The islands in the waters of Smålandshavet are just perfect for a short day trip.
Rødbyhavn and Rødby are at the most southernly tip of Lolland. You can walk to the “Lalandia” holiday and activity centre from here. If you fancy a nice bike ride, “Digekysten” – a signposted cycle trail that leads from Nakskov almost all the way to Nykøbing – makes for a cycling trip. Be sure to notice the sluices at Kramnitze and the whole lowland area between Holeby and Hummingen which used to be Rødby Fjord. A network of cycling trails criss-crosses the region.
