Disembaring on Lübeck

Disembaring on Lübeck

On the sunny side: Grömitz is the Baltic resort on the sunny side and as such is renowned for its 8 km beach as well as the 3 km promenade with sea views.

The new diving gondola at the head of the pier offers fascinating views insights into the underwater world of the Baltic. The cultural highlight is Cismar abbey, a former Benedictine monastery, housing the state museum of Schleswig-Holstein.

Our little friends will enjoy the Grömel Club, which relocated to the new “beach house” in summer 2009. Meanwhile, the grown-ups can relax in the “Grömitzer Welle” experience pool with breakers and warm seawater, and the “Wellarium”.

Lübeck - Culture, nature and movie atmosphere

A film set atmosphere: The watery theme very much permeates Neustadt in Holstein, with its Pelzerhaken and Rettin districts; not least because this is where the favourite German TV series “Küstenwache” (“coastguard”) has been filmed for more than ten years. Anyone who visits Studio 1 will quickly get a taste of the film set atmosphere.

Pelzerhaken, on the other hand, is the active water sport eldorado with a sports centre, Surfcity and beach sauna. There’s plenty of excitement to be found in the nearby Hansapark at Sierkdorf. No less exciting is the view back towards the Stone Age in the zeiTTor museum at Kremper Tor.

Mutifaceted: Niendorf is part of the exclusive Timmendorfer Strand holiday resort and as such has plenty of variety to offer. Close to where it’s all happening, with life at its most vibrant – on the promenade of Timmendorfer Strand – but also close to nature and places where life is slow: in the “An der Aalbek” nature conservation area in Niendorf and on Hemmelsdorfer See lake.

After a day on the beach or a day’s cruising, if you fancy a trip inland, the Sea-Life centre, the Warnsdorf strawberry farm and experience village or the ice sports and tennis centre may be just the right place for you.
